Mathematics
Maths Statement of Intent
At Bishop Wood, we endeavour to ensure that all pupils develop an enjoyment and enthusiasm for maths that will empower them in their future life. We want children to be confident and creative mathematicians who enjoy challenge, within a mutually supportive classroom community. Our aim is for pupils to be fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics and efficient problem solvers. Ambitious opportunities are provided to develop fluency and enhance reasoning skills in order to enable deep and sustainable learning. We strive to develop reflective and resilient learners, who recognise mistakes and misconceptions as opportunities to progress and to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts.
